American Idol Season 7 - Miami Auditions

Shannon McGough (18) A delicate young flower, so sweet and lady like.  NOT!  Shannon burps louder than the boys and belts out a Janice Joplin tune with conviction, if no melody. She’s never heard no before and just can’t believe she’s not a good singer.  Hmmm, I have to go with Simon on this one. He said she sounded as though she were eating.

Robbie Carrico (25) He’s a little bit like a blond Ace Young, complete with flowing locks and a beanie.  Oh, did I mention the voice.  He made it through to Hollywood.

Ghaleb Emachah (27) Venezuelan with spicy vibe.  He makes it through just barely

Best Friends, Corliss Smith (20) and Brittany Wescott (20) agree on most things, except what’s sexy.  Corliss likes dark chocolate chunk Randy Jackson, and Randy likes her creamy, floating jazz notes.  Brittany likes tangy and tart Simon Cowell.  Brittany has rhythm to spare.  These girls are lovely, large, vivacious and very talented.

Suzanne Toon (21) Single mama who struggles to make a living and dreams of making a life. She has a sweet voice when she just sings but is a little affected. Her voice seduces the judges and she’s one step closer to her dream.

Ramiele Malubay (19) Little package, huge voice. Ramiele is one of those examples where the voice totally doe not match the package. Like Chris Sligh or Elliot Yamin. It’s a pleasant surprise. She’s a little screechy on the high notes, but the low notes are full and round. She makes it through with Paula’s and Randy’s votes.

Syesha Mercado (20)  You can just tell the difference between the somewhat talented singers and the truly gifted. Syesha falls in the latter category. She is awesome and doesn’t need to try so hard to impress.

Natashia Blach (29) Also truly gifted singer with a more subtle approach.  She let her smooth. rich voice speak for itself without overdoing the performance.

Ilsy Lorena Pinot (28) Kept up the winning streak for the girls with a good song choice. Her voice wasn’t as striking as her appearance.

The boys struck out with bad performances

Ben Hausbach (26) Strike One -  Never insert a judge’s name into the lyrics.  It smacks of desperation.

Carroy Bethea (27) Strike Two - He looked like a performer in CATS and sounded like a cat in heat.

Grant Rhea (24)  Strike Three - It’s always a bad review when Simon suggests you put on a dress and return later.

Fabienne Hyppolite (28) What an unfortunate last name.  What an unfortunate voice. She plugged one ear while singing and the judges plugged both ears while listening.

Richard Valles (19) He could have sung this song without opening his mouth.  He sung the entire thing through his nose.  All he needs is a puppet and he can go on America’s Got Talent.

Julie Dubela (16) American Junior she grew older but not better.

Brandon Black (20) Killed ‘em - if ‘em is his comedy career, singing career, chance of getting a date this century.
