1. Galaxy Quest

Finally, the funniest movie on my list. I wasn’t prepared for how hard it would be to list the funniest movies. There are so many amusing moments but only those that made me laugh out loud earned a place on the list. A few movies had more moments than others, so they placed higher on the list but I still struggled. You might think a few should be higher or lower and I might agree. Nonetheless this is my list, my job….It’s a stupid job but I’m going to do it…OK?

Galaxy Quest is a campy space show that has earned legions of die hard fans who attend conventions and dress as their favorite characters. Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen) relishes the role of his life, Commander Peter Quincy Taggart, but his fellow cast mates are tired of standing in his shadow.

Taggart agrees to appear at a gig solo and is beamed on board a spaceship modeled by a race of aliens who have carefully studied episodes of the show which they believe are historical documents. Taggart returns to gather his crew, including Gwen DeMarco (Sigourney Weaver) and Alexander Dane (Alan Rickman).

Those who remember the series Star Trek will appreciate the ridiculous roles and obstacles the players are forced to endure. Fans offer insight to help the actors navigate a world they always knew was more fact than fiction. If only real life were this much fun.
