After Kota’s first tribal council (Dan was voted out) the first cracks are starting to show in this united tribe. Susie is in a shaky alliance of six, because she told Corinne she would vote for her. Clearly, this game is one example of when honesty IS NOT the best policy.
While Kota crumbles, Fang is finally united now that Ace is gone. Sugar feels good about her new alliance with Kenny and Crystal. Matty thought he was in a power position, but now he’s peddling to get back into Crystal’s good graces. We’ll see how strong their four person alliance is once the tribes merge.
They celebrate their unity with a big feast on the beach. When the tribes arrive for the feast, there’s a box with a note indicating that once the box is opened the feast is over. Kenny saw a note under the box, which was a clue to a hidden immunity idol. Before he could casually grab the note, Charlie saw it too and eventually everyone was in on the clue. Randy dug up the idol and put it in the middle of the table, daring anyone to pick it up. No one would take the bait, so they ended up casting the idol onto the waves.
Randy declared himself king of Gabon.
The tribe opened the box and found ten numbered stones. Each person took a stone and the tribe was split into two new tribes.
The new Kota Tribe is Marcus, Bob, Susie, Kenny and Crystal. Turns out Crystal and Marcus have a connection from back home. Crystal is cousins with Marcus’s best friend and now he’s conflicted. Marcus trusts Crystal but he better base that decision on Crystal and not her cousin. Susie is going to be the wild card. She’s no dummy. She knows exactly where she stands in her alliance of six and Marcus is unwilling to promise her anything better.
The new Fang Tribe is Randy, Charlie, Corinne, Matty and Sugar. Matty doesn’t waste time reconnecting with Randy. Randy isn’t budging from his Kota alliance and if he has his way Matty will be the first to go. Of course Randy, Corinne and Charlie haven’t given Sugar enough credit and don’t think she has the idol. Matty tells Sugar that Ace wasn’t targeting her after all. She feels like she was duped by Kenny and Crystal.
The first challenge as new tribes will be a test of endurance. The players have to hold poles in perfect balance to hold a board above their head. Crystal, Sugar and Susie were out of it in no time. Randy and Corinne both dropped their poles at the same time. Kenny dropped his pole, leaving Bob and Marcus against Charlie and Matty. The last man standing will win immunity for his tribe. Once Marcus dropped his pole, Charlie thru the challenge to keep Marcus safe. Oh, how sweet. Bob and Matty face off. Matty won immunity for Fang, for the first time! Maybe he has broken their unlucky streak.
Back at camp, Marcus proposes voting Ken. Crystal isn’t down for voting out her strongest ally. Kenny’s fate lies in Susie’s hands. Turns out, that was a safe place to be. Marcus was blindsided and the onion alliance is sliced and diced.
