The American Idols learn all about diva-dom this week from the reigning pop princess, Mariah Carey.
Diva rule # 1 - Travel with your pooch (appropriately decked in glittering collar and leash)
Diva rule # 2 - Ask commoners to treat you as though you are merely human, as if.
David Archuleta started with a strong, sincere [...]
This week’s elimination was a shocker. Michael Johns, the soulful throwback to 70s rockers, Freddie Mercury and Jim Morrison, was sent packing. American Idol gave back Australia’s favorite son, even though there are plenty of less worthy contestants still in the competition. (IMHO)
Also in the bottom two, Syesha and Carly. Syesha actually had a strong [...]
Michael Johns opened the show with Aerosmith “Dream On”. Maybe his ascot was wrapped too tight because he hit some piercing high notes. Randy thought he was a little pitchy and could have picked a better song. Paula said he sounds as good as his looks. Simon liked the performance, but he doesn’t like Michael acting like [...]
I was surprised to see Brooke White in the bottom three this week. Ramiele Malubay and Kristy Lee Cook, not so much. Simon wasn’t surprised by the bottom three, telling Ryan “I think this is absolutely right.”
Ramiele is cute and she can sing, but she is out of her league this season. Kristy Lee Cook [...]
Brooke White did Dolly proud. I like her, even when she’s singing a hillbilly hymn like “Jolene”. She didn’t impress the judges much. Randy thought she rushed it at times, but she worked it out. Paula appreciates Brooke being Brooke blah, blah, blah. Simon thought it lacked emotion.
David Cook worked out his own arrangement of [...]

Chikezie, Syeshia and Jason are in the bottom three.
Carly confirmed Simon’s observation that she seemed tense during her performance. Not because she’s preggers: she was wrapped too tightly in slimming spandex.
Kimberly Locke performed and she looked like she was wrapped too tightly. It didn’t hurt her performance, except she kept her eyes closed most of [...]

Tonight the contestants pick songs from the year they were born. It’s a Beatle free zone.
Ramiele Malubay sang Heart’s “Alone”. She was really shouting out the lyrics and if the song was a little longer, she would have found herself alone. She was sick and couldn’t pull it off. Randy thought the song was too [...]
It was a girls’ club in the bottom three this week. Kristy Lee Cook wasn’t a surprise. She’s spent quite a bit of time in the bottom two, barely making it through week to week with her whiney country act. Amanda Overmyer is a unique talent so it’s understandable she didn’t find a huge fan base [...]
Amanda Overmyer has picked really great songs the last few weeks but I think she blew it this week with “Back to the USSR.” Her charm and her energy when she performs sets her apart.
Randy and Paula had a couple of issues in the beginning. It was a little pitchy, but it got better in [...]
Jim Carrey showed up to promote Horton Hears a Who, wearing an elephant costume and playing it up for the crowd. He was a great sport and the best part of tonight’s show. Of course he didn’t have much competition -
A group sing along.
A gratuitous Ford commercial.
Katherine McPhee singing slightly off key.
And the bottom three, [...]
